Ancaster Community Services has announced new and exciting silent auction donations for its annual Community Links Charity Golf Tournament, including tickets for two Anywhere WestJet Flies in Canada.
This year's tournament takes place Wednesday, June 11 at Knollwood in Ancaster. Golf and dinner, as well as "dinner only" spaces are still available but are going fast, according to Karen Hadden, ACS executive director.
"Community Links is our most important fundraising event of the year in support of all ACS services, including Meals on Wheels," said Ms. Hadden. "We're pleased by initial registrants but we still need more golfers and more prize donors to make this event the success it needs to be to support the increasing social services needs of our community. That's why we're urging everyone who's interested to contact us now to get involved."
To further stimulate participation, ACS is delighted to announce that the silent auction table now includes WestJet's donation of airfare for two as well as a golf bag autographed by Lori Kane.
"These prizes complement other generous gifts of putters, golf travel bags, golf apparel and framed prints," said Ms. Hadden. "What we're looking for now on the prize front is a donation of tickets to entertainment or sporting events, which are always very popular draws for us and would increase the potential value from our silent auction table."
This year, Bob Wade has agreed to emcee. He will also join Councillor Lloyd Ferguson on the links, as well as what the ACS hopes will be 144 golfers. Over the past six years Community Links has raised in excess of $79,000 for programs run by the Ancaster Community Services, including Meals on Wheels, Volunteer Assisted Driving as well as social services outreach and referral. For more information on the tournament, including how to donate or register, contact Lisa Wert at Ancaster Community Services, 905-648-6675.
