Lazy summers by the lake. Sparklers lit in celebration of a birthday. Family gathering on the lawn. Parades. Sports.
All this and more can be seen at the Dundas Museum and Archives' first annual Home Movie Festival in celebration of Archives Awareness Week in Ontario. This is a new program for the museum, and hopefully will become an annual event. With assistance and support from Cable 14, the museum has assembled an evening that is sure to evoke memories of celebrations past. Footage borrowed from community members and taken from the museum's collection will be presented. It is a unique opportunity to visit Dundas of the 1940s and 1950s and share family events and celebrations.
When planning began, museum staff immediately thought of Scott Whittington as the perfect accompanist for the evening. Mr. Whittington is a talented and versatile pianist with an extensive knowledge of popular music spanning much of the past century.
The event takes place Friday, April 4, 7 p.m., at the museum, 139 Park St. W. Admission is free and so is the popcorn.
