The Victoria Day fireworks display returned to the Dundas Driving Park following a temporary relocation to the Christie Conservation Area in 2008 while construction of the park’s multi-use complex was being undertaken…I would welcome any comments that you have about the event.

When you are doing your shopping in downtown Dundas and require a longer period, remember that the parking rate in the various off-street municipal parking lots is significantly lower than on-street parking (60 cents and hour versus 85 cents an hour).

If you use Old Ancaster/Old Dundas Road as your route of choice for your trips to and from Ancaster, I would suggest you consider an alternative until the end of August. Horizon Utilities is doing major work on their transmission lines so you should expect lengthy traffic delays between 9 a. m. and 4 p. m., Monday to Friday due to required lane reductions.

As I had advised in an earlier column, my city council colleagues have supported my request for priority funding for the $2.5-million reconstruction of King Street (York to Market) and the $2.1M reconstruction of York Road (Valley to Newman) in our application to the federal/provincial Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF). Regrettably, these two submissions were not approved but will be done with funding through the city’s capital program within the next five years.
