The 39 Clues Book Two: One False Note
By Gordon Korman
Amy and Dan Cahill’s grandmother was smart enough to hide 39 Clues to the secret of their family’s power all over the world. Now are Amy and Dan clever enough to find them? Join them on their scavenger hunt in this cool mystery series from Scholastic. This year, you CAN take a trip around the world.
Fresh of some dangerous work in Paris, France the duo find themselves in Austria, combing the landmarks of Vienna and Salzburg to find those elusive hidden secrets.
Vienna is a city that would wow anyone—land of schnitzel, sauerbraten, white asparagus and a people who refer to themselves as Wieners! A truly unforgettable place with architecture and buildings, dating back to the 13th century! Some sites to take in along the way of this leg of the journey are: St. Stephen’s cathedral (founded in 1137!), Mozarthaus (former home of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Vienna’s original Pop Idol), the Landstrasse District, and the Belvedere Museum.
By reading The 39 Clues Book Two: One False Note, you will find out what links these cities with the next one on their journey:
Venice, Italy (Venezia). Used to car chases and train rides on this journey, Amy and Dan stop short when they reach Venice. And here’s why: this extraordinary city is built on criss-crossing groups of canals, bridges and footpaths. So many nooks and crannies to hide Cahill family secrets. Hopping on a gondola and sailing down the Grand Canal in order to outsmart their family, Amy and Dan are able to gawk at St. Mark’s Basilica, the Rialto Bridge and the Accademia Museum. This is nothing like home!
