Brian Dowling was outstanding in net, and Connor Morris, Vaughn Scott and Kyle Holmes put the puck past the Lincoln goalie, but it was not enough in the 6-3 loss.
Keiran Markiton, Marshall Hillsley, Matthew Baldwin, Joel Northey and Michael Topalovic were all credited with assists.
On Saturday night in Dundas, Lincoln scored first, but the Blues kept the pressure on.
Early in the second Josh Stegmaier found the back of the net, assisted by Northey and Matthew Sylvestri. Baldwin, Matthew Phillips, Braydon Kustra, Davy Hawthorne, Damon Cumming and Sylvestri worked hard moving the puck out of the Dundas zone.
Late in the third, Stegmaier, assisted by Northey and Scott, scored his second to tie the game and send it to overtime. Topalovic worked hard in the corner to put the puck on Northey’s stick who scored to end it 3-2. Great goal-tending came from Nolan Walker.
On Sunday, the Blues went back to the Lincoln rink. Topalovic started off the scoring, assisted by Jack Staz. Defenceman Matthew Phillips rushed in with the puck and scored the second goal, assisted by Staz. Holmes and Stegmaier both found the net in the second. Phillips, Northey and Scott earned helpers. Markiton buried the puck late in the third to seal the deal. Dundas won 5-2 to go ahead in the series 2-1. Walker had a spectacular night in net.
