Local expectation surrounding the landmark historic restaurant finally reopening as a fully operational downtown Dundas business reached a fever pitch after an October opening was set as a goal, then a sign was posted on the building’s façade promising a grand opening this past Tuesday.
But city staff had no misconceptions — the Bangkok Spoon Deluxe could not open by Nov. 24.
Day-to-day situation
And no one can say this week when it will open, though city staff considers it a “day-to-day” situation as ongoing inspections continue for a variety of departments.
A standard building inspection was set for Nov. 23, in advance of several inspections still required for the new operator to get municipal licensing necessary to actually operate a business, and store, cook and serve food.
But over the past week, an apparent all-out, full-time effort to complete renovation of the building’s façade and rebuild much of the inside left the Bangkok Spoon Deluxe ready for a final city building department inspection on Wednesday, Nov. 24.
