The Crown corporation has reportedly agreed to an offer with several conditions that must be met by Dec. 10. But Canada Post spokesperson Tom Creech said last week he would not comment when asked to verify if the information is correct. Creech did say Canada Post might have more information to release next week.
Meanwhile, Carolyn Quinn of the Heritage Canada Foundation contacted the Dundas Star News recently for more information on the historic – but undesignated –post office building at 104 King St. W. Quinn produces a newsletter for the foundation which profiles historic buildings or locations that may be threatened, and wanted to know the post office’s status.
The Dundas landmark has been for sale since September, when Canada Post announced it was asking $1.25- million for the property and building.
A request has been made for the City of Hamilton planning department to complete a cultural heritage assessment of the building to see if it warrants some form of designation under the Ontario Heritage Act.
