The coaching staff will also be happy to come out of a tough week with one win and one loss, holding on to first place in the Niagara District East Division, one game ahead of Grimsby. In addition to testing this year’s squad, the week offered a glimpse of the future.

“It has been tough playing short the last few games, but they have been good character builders for the team,” Caco said.

Tuesday night, Dundas held off a late push by Caledonia to take a 3-2 win. Goalie Clint Windsor made 36 saves for his second win of the season. The game featured three emergency call-ups from the Midget AAA Bulldogs to fill out the roster. Derek Searle, Ryan Lewis and Brayden Knott are all from Dundas and got a taste of playing for their hometown junior team.

“They all had good games and didn’t look out of place,” said general manager Steve Aglor. “They can definitely play at this level and we look forward to having them in a Blues uniform next year."

First period goals from Cole McNeil and Nick Bazinet gave the Blues an early 2-0 lead. Dundas’ D. J. McConnell, assisted by Ancaster resident John Murray and Ryan Green, stretched the lead to 3-0.

Caledonia scored twice in the third period but Windsor and the Blues held on for the win.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, the Blues dropped a 5-2 game against Chippawa. Down 4-0, Dundas finally found the net half way through the final period. Nick Bazinet scored with an assist from Cole McNeil. Chippawa got that point back, and took a 5-1 lead. Cole McNeil scored with just eleven second left in the game.

Aglor said the team was short players to start the game. After a couple of injuries and ejections as the game went on, the Blues finished with just 11 skaters.

After a seven day break, the Blues face Norwich at Dundas’ J. L. Grightmire Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
