
The open house is being held in conjunction with Dundas Arts Weekend. Hours are Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. and Nov. 8, 1-3 p. m.
Visitors will be able to watch Hamilton City Ballet junior and senior classes on Saturday, enjoy dance, music and vocal performances by students on Sunday at 1:30 pm. and watch a rehearsal of Santa’s Big Sleep by the Northern Lights at 2 p. m. The newly opened academy is directed by internationally renowned ballet master Max Ratevosian, winner of the 2008 City of Hamilton Arts Award, and Anna Shkolnik, Ontario educator and principal. It is a private day school focusing on the classical arts of ballet, music, vocal and drama while offering a rigorous academic Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum for Grades 4-12.
Students will perform throughout the community at senior citizens home, public venues, community centres and educational institutions to further educate the public’s understanding of the arts. The academy also provides instructional seminars on topics relating to the performing and visual arts as it pertains to Ballet, and Opera.
