Of the 47 original, environmentally friendly Transition Town projects suggested by members of the public, three will win prizes of $300, $200 and $100.
Doors open at 7 p. m., with several displays available to view, with the actual meeting getting underway at 7:30 p. m.
The evening will not only provide an opportunity to recognize the top three local project suggestions chosen by a panel of judges based on their level of innovation, clarity, applicability to Dundas and relevance to the Transition Town themes, but also bring together people interested in helping make some of the projects a reality.
The goal of a Transition Town is to find creative ways to face challenges of fossil fuel dependence and climate change, while transitioning to a future where the community uses less energy and produces a smaller carbon footprint.
While the 47 specific proposals are under wraps until next Friday night, several deal with transportation and energy production within the Valley Town.
Many of the ideas also help bring the residents of Dundas together, while potentially helping the community deal locally with financial impacts of the recession.
For more information, visit the group’s website at www.dundasontariointransition.ca and drop by next Friday night.
