The Dundas Blues hosted a fundraising booth during Cactus Festival to promote the 2008-09 season and a future Alumni night Oct. 25 to celebrate 50 years of junior hockey in the Valley Town.
The Blues were supported at the Cactus Festival through the donations to the first prize of a Wheelbarrow of Summer Chill by Greensville Gourmet, Rona and Boston Pizza. Rich Lopez of Dundas was the lucky winner. Brian Moran and TIRECRAFT donated the second prize of four Bridgestone tires won by Bob Green of Dundas and the third prize of an Electric scooter was won by Paul Phibbs of Jarvis.
David Leigh was also busy over the weekend gathering over 1,000 names of former Blues players and staff to celebrate 50 years of Junior Hockey in Dundas.
"Oct. 25 is looking to be a fantastic evening to get reacquainted with former players and friends to see what they have been up to since their playing days," said Leigh.
Tickets are $10 per person. Contact any of the Blues executive.
The 2008-09 season is packed activities, such as a Meet the Players night, Minor Hockey night, Royal Canadian Legion Veterans night and a Rotary Club of Canada night.
The team has not been idle during the off-season. Tryouts start Sept. 2 at J.L. Grightmire arena.
Best team possible
General manager Kelly Barber says this season is a special year and the Blues are hoping to have the best team possible.
"I am very excited in having Eric Lachance join us as head coach as he brings not just a wealth of hockey knowledge but is also a great communicator and teacher."
