The curtain rises on Dundas Little Theatre's Collected Stories by Donald Margulies , Oct. 24, 25, 30, 31, and Nov. 1, 6, 7 and 8. All performances at 8 p.m. Garstin Centre for the Arts 37 Market Street South, Dundas
In Collected Stories, Margulies looks at the heart of a relationship between two women; a well known author and her young talented protege. When the play opens, an awestruck college student, Lisa Morrison, arrives at the apartment of her instructor Ruth Steiner for a tutorial.
Over time, as Lisa's career blossoms and Ruth ages, the protÈge becomes the assistant, then friend and ultimately the destroyer.
This engaging and intellectually stimulating play covers six years of emotional investment, and the tension builds, as the audience watches the ultimate disintegration of the relationship.
Ruth is played by Jo Skilton, who recently wowed audiences with her brilliant portrayal of Gertrude Stein in My Matisse, Picadilly Circus, and as Mercy in Dundas Little Theatre's production of Humble Boy.
Lisa is played by Alex Holbrook, who is fast becoming one of the Hamilton area's most sought after actors. She inspired theatre-goers with her performance of the role of Hannah, in Night of the Iguana at DLT, and recently gave an extremely powerful performance as Lady MacBeth in McMaster Thespian Company's production of MacBeth.
Directed by Liz Inman, well known for her work in Dundas and the community, Collected Stories is not to be missed.
